The approval rating of US President Joe Biden remains in a position of relative strength as Biden delivers his presidential budget and lays down the framework for an expected 2024 re-election bid.

  • Biden unveiled his budget a short time ago. It contains a sketch of his policy objectives for a second term including greater fiscal prudence and proposals to increase taxes on the wealthy to fund Medicare and reduce the deficit.
  • According to RealClearPolitics, Biden approval rate currently sits at 44%, reflecting a strong 2023 which has seen Biden make a concerted effort to claim the political middle ground.
  • The Hill reported today that Jenn Ridder, who served as national states director for Biden’s 2020 bid and Sam Cornale, the executive director of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), are the frontrunners to take the top job leading Biden's 2024 campaign.
  • The Hill: "The president’s team is hoping to get their senior positions filled by April, when they’re expecting to officially launch the campaign. But some allies close to Biden warn it could take longer."
