Biden Urges Congress To Approve Supp. Req. Including Border Money

WHITE HOUSE

US President Joe Biden, speaking at the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity Leaders’ Summit (APEP) at the White House. Biden "Urges Congress to approve supplemental request that includes border money." As we noted in today's US Daily Brief, "[Speaker Mike] Johnson’s decision to move the Israel bill independently of President Biden’s USD$106 billion national security supplemental request is likely to prompt a Senate bill, which includes aid to Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan, and the US-Mexico border, being sent back to the House."

  • Separately, Biden states that "We are affirming our shared approach on migration," at the summit. Biden: "We are expanding safe and legal pathways to migration." Given that Mexico's cooperation on reaching any workable arrangement with regards to migration at the southern border will be crucial, the non-attendance of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador could prove a blow to the impact of this inaugural APEP summit.
