US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, speaking at a press conference following a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the margins of the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in India, has told reporters that, "not a single G20 member voted with Russia" to oppose the UN Ukraine resolution, last week.
- Blinken said India's chair statement today re-affirmed the declaration issued by the G20 leaders in Bali which "strongly condemned the war in Ukraine."
- Blinken said Russia and China were the only two countries to make clear they would not sign a joint communique.
- Blinken says: "18 members of the G20 also reaffirmed that it is essential to uphold international law and the multilateral system, including defending all the purposes and principle enshrined in the charter of the United Nations."
- Blinken says Putin has showed "zero interest" in engaging on peace in Ukraine unless the international community recognises "new territorial realities."
- Blinken say that the US and "many other countries" are concerned over the Russia-China relationship and if China were to provide "material lethal support for Russia" or engage in systematic evasion of sanctions that would be a "serious problem for our countries."
