Bolsonaro Downplays Market Moves Over Petrobras

BRAZIL

President Bolsonaro confirmed overnight that Brazil will provide BRL250 in emergency aid for four months, with the proposal currently being discussed in Congress.

  • After completing the provision of the monthly stipend, the govt hopes to have a new proposal for the so-called Bolsa Familia social program, starting in July.
  • "Our indebtedness capacity is at the limit, so it will be (granted for) another 4 months to see if the economy picks up pace": Bolsonaro
  • President also downplayed the market moves in state-owned Petrobras. He said the company is getting back to normality following the "fuss" in the market amid speculation.
