Borys Sees Inflation At +7% Y/Y At Year-End, Rzeczkowska Calls For Fiscal Discipline

  • Head of state development fund PFR Pawel Borys told TVN24 that February saw the peak of inflation and "we are now moving to disinflation." Borys noted that headline CPI inflation will likely be around +7% Y/Y at the end of this year, but bringing it back to the NBP target will take 2-3 years.
  • Finance Minister Magdalena Rzeczkowska told Business Insider in an interview that the government has clear budget priorities and national security is at the top of the list as she pointed to the need for fiscal discipline to realise these key aims. She added that the process of returning off-budget debt to the central budget will begin in 2024.
  • Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wrote in an op-ed for the Financial Times that "Ukraine's defeat would mean the West's defeat" and called on countries which have the necessary resources to deliver F16 fighter jets and long-range missiles to Kyiv.
