Bull Flattening Momentum Peters Out in SAGBs

SOUTH AFRICA
  • Local rates trade a fraction softer at the open, with long-dated yields +1.2bp despite marginally firmer risk sentiment out of APAC.
  • SAGBs continued to trade choppily into the weekend, struggling to consolidate further gains on Friday – ending mostly flat.
  • W/w, bull flattening momentum stalled out, leaving the curve little changed.
  • Risk premia continue to tick lower, however, broadly in line with other EMs, ending -6.3bp lower for the week.
