Cabinet Reshuffle Rumour Swirls Once Again

UK

Mounting speculation and rumour among UK political journalists that Prime Minister Boris Johnson could be about to launch a Cabinet reshuffle. There had been expectation that this could take place two weeks ago, but focus has intensified in the last 48 hours following a Sunday visit to 10 Downing St. by Chief Whip Mark Spencer and Director of Communications Jack Doyle.

  • Mid-afternoon UK time the general expectation for when reshuffle could take place, following PMQs at 1200BST.
  • Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab seen as potentially vulnerable following criticism of his handling of the collapse of the Afghan gov't. Home Secretary Priti Patel also under pressure following a record summer of illegal immigrants arriving on UK shores having crossed the English Channel.
  • Would mark the first major reshuffle of Johnson's time as prime minister.
