CANADA: BoC Key Quarterly Surveys

LOOK AHEAD
  • Today sees day 1 of the last key releases before next week’s BoC (Jan 25) with the BoS/CSCE Q4 surveys at 1030ET, followed by Dec CPI tomorrow.
  • Gov. Macklem noted after the Q4 survey that “Business forward looking own price expectations encouragingly are coming lower, look forward to seeing that in incoming data.”
  • That was based on expectations cooling from elevated levels across 1Y-5Y horizons, a very small improvement in the share of firms seeing inflation above 3% over the next two years and year-ahead wage plans cooling from 5.8% to 4.9%.
