CAQ Maintaining Dominance In Quebec According To Latest Polls

CANADA

The Canadian province of Quebec's governing Coalition Avenir Quebec (CAQ) goes from strength to strength in latest opinion polling, carried out 18 months before the next regional elections are due by October 2022.

  • Leger poll: CAQ: 46%, Quebec Liberal Party: 20%, Quebec Solidaire: 14%, Parti Quebecois: 12%, Quebec Conservative Party: 6%. April 30-May 2 2021. 1,015 respondents.
  • According to 338Canada projections, the vote shares in the poll above - if reflected in an election - would result in the conservative autonomist CAQ winning 95 of the 125 seats in the National Assembly, a gain of 21 seats on the 2018 result.
  • The provincial gov't of Premier Francois Legault has seen strong public approval ratings for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, in stark contrast to some other regional leaders that have seen support levels plummet during the pandemic.
