CFTC CoT Notes Net Shorts Trimmed and Net Longs Added To

US TSY FUTURES

The latest CFTC CoT revealed a trimming of net shorts (TU, FV, TY UXY & WN) and addition to net longs (US) across the U.S. Tsy futures curve through Tuesday May 28.

  • Still, the data doesn't cover Friday's PCE & MNI Chicago PMI releases, which triggered a rally into the weekend.
  • Looking deeper, asset managers seemed to conduct relatively aggressive trimming of net longs further out the curve (in US & WN futures), while hedge funds seemed to cover net shorts in all contracts outside of UXY futures.
  • A reminder that futures positioning will be skewed by basis trades.
