UK: Chief Brexit negotiator David Frost speaking to the House of Lords EU
committee presently.
- Has stated that negotiations are still some distance away from even a broad
outline of an agreement.
- Restates his hopes for constructive progress in the next negotiating round,
due to begin on June 1.
- Says that if the EU offers an extension to the transition period, the UK will
not agree to one. This follows a letter sent from the EU's chief negotiator
Michel Barnier sent to a group of opposition MPs in response to their request
for an extension. Barnier said the EU is open to the prospect of an extension.
