CHINA: China and the U.S. have not conducted negotiations regarding their trade
dispute at any level so far; hence, China will continue to observe future
actions of the U.S. to decide its next course of action, the Ministry of
Commerce said Thursday at a press briefing. The U.S. has not shown any intention
to negotiate with China on trade agreements as it maintains its protectionist
stance, said Gao Feng, spokesman of the MOFCOM. China will not negotiate with
the U.S. under unilateral threats by the U.S., stressed Gao. Whether the two
sides are able to resolve the trade spat under the WTO framework depends on
whether the U.S. still respects and supports the WTO system and rules, he noted.
