China’s Natural Gas Production Hit Record High in 2023: OilChem

China’s domestic natural gas production hit a record high in 2023, according to NBS data, cited by OilChem.

  • Production rose to 229.7 bcm, up 5.8% on the year. China has maintained the annual increase of 10 bcm for the last seven consecutive years.
  • The top three gas fields were PetroChina's Changqing Oilfield, the Southwest Oil and Gas Field, and the Tarim Oilfield, OilChem said.
  • Sinopec supplies over 45 bcm of natural gas in 2023, OilChem said.
  • Meanwhile, CNOOC increased its offshore gas production to over 100 mcm.
