Chinese Diesel Exports Surge in September y-o-y

Chinese diesel exports were at their highest in over a year in September while jet fuel exports rose to a 29-month high as exporters took advantage of strong export margins and export quotas.

  • Exports of diesel more than doubled in September from a year earlier to 1.73 million tonnes, the highest monthly rate since July 2021, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. Exports are up from 830,000 tonnes in August and 780,000 tonnes a year ago.
  • Exports of jet jumped by 38.6% from a year earlier to 1.23 million tonnes last month - the is the highest monthly volume since April 2020.
  • September gasoline exports were 660,000 tonnes, down 28.3% from a year earlier and also down 41% from August.
