CNB Expected To Keep Policy Rate Unchanged

  • The CNB are widely expected to keep the two-week repo rate and their FX regime unchanged today, following recent rounds of hawkish comments. The outcome of the Bank Board meeting will be announced at 13:30BST/14:30CEST, with Governor Ales Michl set to hold a press conference at 14:45BST/15:45CEST.   • President Petr Pavel and Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that they devoted the bulk of their regular meeting yesterday to the pension reform and the fiscal consolidation package but refused to unveil any fresh details. Fiala said that he will be able to present both proposals "around mid-May."
  • The Cabinet will meet today at 13:30BST/14:30CEST, half an hour after the Chamber of Deputies wraps up its session. Among the items on the agenda is a discussion of the use of funds earmarked for Czechia's EU presidency, a proposal to approve investment incentives and the results of financial audits in public administration.
