Commerzbank Provide Primer On This Evening’s Slated Ratings Updates

RATINGS

Commerzbank write “tonight the rating agencies could add spice to the debate with major reviews scheduled, including Italy, Greece and France.”

  • “A confirmation is probably the best Italy can hope for considering the fiscal slippage since the review in April, when S&P said that "persistent fiscal deviations" or "a prolonged interest rate shock" could put the rating under downward pressure.”
  • “Things could look different for Greece, which may be lifted to investment grade by S&P. This would be the first IG assessment from an index-relevant agency, but at least one more IG rating is needed for Greece to regain index inclusion.”
