ConocoPhillips Invest in Qatar LNG Project

ConocoPhillips has invested a 3.1% stake in Qatar’s North Field East Gas Expansion Project

  • ENI have previously announced a 3.1% stake and Total a 6.3% stake in the project.
  • The North Field East project will increase Qatar’s capacity to 110m tons per year from the existing 77m tons per year. Operation of the 4 new LNG trains is scheduled to start in early 2026. A further 2 new trains in North Field South are planned to take production to 126m tons per year by 2027.
  • Currently 80% of gas output from Qatar heads to Asia but after the expansion the proportion to Europe is expected to raise to 40 - 50% according to Qatar’s Energy Minister.
