Consumer Confidence Pauses Recent Slide

  • After eleven consecutive weekly declines, Bloomberg Nanos consumer confidence edged 0.2pts higher to 45.7.
  • There were minor improvements in the main categories, be it personal finances over the past year, expectations for the economy and current job security but all from a low base.
  • There was also a slight decrease in the share seeing real estate prices falling over the next six months after a marked rise in recent weeks.
  • The small change on the week sees little impact, with GoCs holding onto a developing bear steepening with 2YY +1.8bps and 10YY +3.7bps whilst USDCAD nudges a few pips higher off session lows.
