Crude Net Longs Drift Lower on the Week

OIL POSITIONING

Crude managed money net long positions for both Brent and WTI edged lower last week according to Commitments of Traders data released on Friday. The combined net long positions for Brent and WTI fell by -13k to 391k.

  • ICE Gasoil net long positions ticked higher to end the declining trend since mid August but Nymex diesel net longs were just slightly lower on the week. Nymex gasoline net longs are holding still near to a three year low seen in data the previous week.
    • ICE Brent net longs fell by -11k to 217k
    • Nymex WTI net longs fell by -7k to 214k
    • ICE Gasoil increased by +1k to +27k
    • Nymex diesel fell by -4k to +33k
    • Nymex gasoline increased by +3k to 29k
