Defence Minister To Sign Missile Contract

  • Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz s set to sign off on a large contract for the delivery of JASSM-ER long-range cruise missiles as part of ongoing efforts to build the capability to strike targets deep into the potential enemy's territory. Separately, Poland is taking measures to fortify its borders with Russia and Belarus, while the Foreign Ministry announced plans to curb movement of Russian diplomats working in Poland.
  • A report by Money.pl suggests that the National Electoral Commission will launch a probe into the expenses of the main opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party's electoral committee during the latest campaign. This comes amid reports that Sovereign Poland, a breakaway party from and current ally of PiS, may have siphoned money off a special fund administered by the Ministry of Justice headed by its leader to support campaign activities. Sovereign Poland members contested the election as representatives of Law and Justice's electoral committee.
  • Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski said that he "cannot imagine" that President Andrzej Duda could refuse to sign a bill curbing the increase in energy bills. He also admitted that the odds of implementing more generous mortgage subsidies have "radically declined" as the Poland 2050 party withdrew its support for the scheme.
