Delivered LNG Imports Rise to 10.7m mt at Jan-end: Platts

LNG imports delivered into Europe were 10.7m mt as of Jan. 29, up 2.59m mt on the week, according to Platts.

  • Imports in Jan were around 95% of levels seen in Dec, which themselves were the highest since May.
  • The US was the supplier for 56% of the total, with 14% from Russia, 10% from Nigeria, 7% from Qatar, and 4% from Nigeria.
  • The UK is taking the highest volumes, at 1.91m mt. This is followed by France at 1.73m mt and Turkey at 1.41mt.
  • Although prices may to see short-term spikes, market participants believe that the high inventories and sluggish demand will limit any significant price hikes.
