US: Democratic presidential primary debate failed to deliver any knockout blows

or standout moments for any of the 10 candidates on stage.

- Broad range of issues meant there was little in the way of detail on any

topic. Healthcare, a major dividing line of the campaign, didnt feature as

prominently as previous debates.

- Trump impeachment enquiry was a major issue, with Sen. Kamala Harris

lambasting Pres. as a "criminal", but Sen. Bernie Sanders saying if Dems become

"consumed by Donald Trump" they will lose the election. 

- Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Cory Booker seen as having a good night (essential for

flagging campaigns), while VP Joe Biden suffered the worst gaffe in claiming

support of the "only" African American female elected to the Senate (referring

to Carol Moseley Braun), despite Kamala Harris standing on stage next to him.

- Frontrunner Sen. Elizabeth Warren and rising challenger Mayor Pete Buttigieg

both had middling nights, neither made a major impact but both avoided any

significant pitfalls. Buttigieg will have to deal with more frequent attacks in

campaign following poll showing him leading in the first state to vote, Iowa.
