Democrats Increasingly Willing To Support Biden But Concerned Over VP Harris

US

A new survey from YouGov/Yahoo News has found that Democrats are increasingly willing to support President Biden’s re-election bid but remain concerned about his age and Vice President Kamala Harris’ suitability for the job should Biden vacate the office during his second term.

  • YouGov reports that concern over Biden's age may be growing with "Nearly two-thirds of Americans (65%) now say they are at least somewhat concerned about his “health and mental acuity,” up 5 points since February. Nearly half (44%) describe themselves as “very” concerned, up from 39%...”
  • Concerns over Biden's age will centralise the debate over Harris and her low approval rating will likely present a drag on Biden's campaign with "less than a third of Americans (32%) think[ing] she is “ready to assume the presidency,” while nearly half (48%) say she is not, and 20% are unsure. A full 57% of independents, meanwhile, say Harris is not ready (compared with just 22% who say she is ready).”
