US DATA REACT: Despite the headline GDP miss of 2.6% vs. 3.0% exp, BMO Capital
Market's Aaron Kohli said "the data show robust final demand and should do
nothing to give the Fed pause. Kohli on the curve, "the market is pushing up
against strong levels and as trade becomes a focus for headlines." Kohli calls
for further flattening in 5s30s with "break of 43 bp on 5s/30s to offer a
potential move to 35 bp." longer term curve view is "of flattening to inversion
is as yet unbowed and with technicals in charge." Risk of Powell taking the Fed
helm, if he proves to be more hawkish than moderate, curve flattening can
accelerate.
