Domanski Details Higher Budget Deficit for 2024

  • The Polish finance minister Domanski has revised higher Poland's budget deficit for 2024, which is now seen at PLN 184bln, alongside growth of 3%. The fiscal gap is seen widening to 5.1% of GDP next year, with net borrowing needs of PLN 250bln.
  • The uptick in the expected budget deficit for 2024 is (slightly) higher than expectations. Reports out overnight cited sources in reporting that the budget deficit for next year is to be set at around PLN 180bln, up from the PLN 165bln and is mainly the result of an uptick in spending ahead of the elections back in October.
