DOLLAR
DOLLAR: DXY has edged higher and last sits at 95.78 after dropping 5 pips
Monday, as USD traded mixed across the G10 currency board. Elsewhere, WTI & gold
have traded flat in today's Asia-Pac session.
- Worth mentioning the U.S. has charged Huawei with bank fraud, wire fraud,
sanctions violations & IP theft, while the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed
that it is seeking the extradition of Huawei CFO Meng from Canada. This may
complicate the top-level Sino-U.S. trade talks, due to commence on Wednesday.
- DXY bulls need to retake yesterday's high of 95.92 before challenging the
21-DMA at 96.01, followed by the 100-DMA at 96.12. Conversely, bears look for a
fall through yesterday's low of 95.64, which would open up the 200-DMA at 95.25.
- U.S. focus today turns to domestic consumer confidence & Apple's earnings
report, while the speakers' slate is empty ahead of the FOMC MonPol decision due
Wednesday.
