DOLLAR: DXY last seen at 96.62, almost unchanged on the day, after adding 15
pips yesterday.
- Thursday saw a number of U.S. economic releases, which sent mixed signals.
Durable goods, m'fing PMI, home sales & Philadelphia Fed biz. outlook survey
disappointed, while services PMI and initial jobless claims positively
surprised. Elsewhere, positive rhetoric around the ongoing Sino-U.S. trade talks
was evident. The U.S. has confirmed that President Trump will meet with China's
VP Liu at 1430EST on Friday.
- DXY bulls need to retake 96.66, where the index peaked yesterday, before
setting their sights on the 97.00 mark. Meanwhile, bears look to the
100-DMA/55-DMA, located at 96.42/40. A break below would allow them to challenge
the 50-DMA at 96.32.
- U.S. focus today turns to a plethora of Fed speakers, with the text of Fed
Chair Powell's semi-annual testimony to Congress set to be released.
