E3 Reps Met w/Iranian Counterpart As Tehran Confirms Indirect US Talks

IRAN

Political directors from the E3 nations (France, Germany, UK) met with their Iranian counterpart Ali Bagheri Kani on 12 June in Abu Dhabi. German Foreign Ministry states that 'The discussion covered a wide range of issues and concerns including Iran’s nuclear programme", although WSJ's Laurence Norman states that "Sources stressing as they did on March that this wasn’t a nuclear deal negotiations session though Iran nuclear program of course was discussed."

  • Bagheri tweets: "Following diplomatic consultations with regional and extra-regional parties, we met with our German, French and English counterparts in Abu Dhabi and discussed a range of issues and mutual concerns.” Foreign policy reporter Laura Rozen: "When Bagheri says following diplomatic consultations with regional and “extra regional” parties[...], wonder if Bagheri means the indirect talkswith US in Oman."
