Early Voting Data Suggests Strong Midterm Election Turnout

Blayne Alexander of NBC has reported that Georgia has set a new record for first day early voting for a midterm election.

  • Alexander: "Yesterday's turnout is nearly double 1st day votes in 2018 and approaching 2020 numbers (presidential year) 2022: 131,318 2020: 136,739 2018: 70,849 (per office of Georgia Secretary of State)"
  • University of Florida professor Michael McDonald: "It's clear that we are above the 2018 midterm at the same point in time in states where we have comparable data to look at."
  • Democrat strategists have suggested that high turnout may be compelled by younger voter who are more likely to vote Democrat.
