East-West Naphtha Spread Narrows to Near Three-Month Low

OIL PRODUCTS

Asian naphtha premiums to NWE have fallen to their lowest level since Dec. 5, according to Bloomberg data.

  • The Japan CFR v NWE CFR month 1 spread is currently around $12.50/mt.
  • Elevated freight rates have put pressure on the spread, which have been driving down the east-west spread and forward netback margins since Jan.
  • Consequently, East Asia imports of European naphtha have declined in February, while imports from the USGC have ticked up.
