Germany is planning to spend €2.8bn to support 15 industrial companies in their decarbonization as part of the first round of the country’s climate protection contracts according to the economy ministry. 

  • Germany will award 15-year subsidies to industrial companies in the glass, paper and chemical sectors, which is expected to reduce emissions by 17mn tons of emissions over the period.
  • German CO2 emissions stood at 674mn tons at the end of 2023.
