Colombia's Energy and Mining Minister Irene Velez resigns from government, with a resignation statement listing her ministry's achievements in government, before stating:

  • "I decide to step down from the position of Minister to prevent the investigations against me from interfering with the execution of the Government's program. I will always be ready to respond to the authorities when required."
