Erdogan Offers Turkish Mediation In Call With Putin

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has restated his desire to mediate a peaceful resoltuion to the war in Ukraine, in a recently concluded call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

  • Erdogan's office said in a statement: "During the call, President Erdogan reiterated that Turkey is ready to undertake the task of facilitating and mediating for the establishment of a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine."
  • According to the statement the two leaders also discussed the Black Sean grain corridors, Russian ammonia exports, and the processing of Russian grain in Turkey for export to Africa.
  • Hümeyra Pamuk at Reuters reports that Putin and Erdogan also spoke "about exchanging men wounded in Ukraine," and the creation of a gas hub in Turkey.
