Erin O’Toole has lost the Conservative Party leadership vote by 73 to 45.


  • Conservatives must now vote on interim leader which is likely to take place later today. Possible stand-ins are deputy leader Candice Bergen, British Columbia MP Ed Fast, and House Leader Gerard Deltell.
  • Likely candidates to replace O'Toole as permanent leader include MP Pierre Poilievre and Ontario MP Leslyn Lewis.
  • O'Toole had been criticised by members of his caucus for pushing the party too far into the center ground.
