EU Gas Maintenance: Kollsnes, Troll Works Weigh on Supply

Norwegian pipeline gas flows to Europe significantly declined over the weekend with the ramp up of the yearly maintenance at the Kollsnes processing plant and the Troll field, Gassco remit data showed.

  • Norwegian gas pipeline flows dropped significantly this week to 179.7mcm/d on Tuesday, compared with levels just above 300mcm/d early last week.
  • Works at the large Kollsnes processing plant ramped up on Saturday with unavailable capacity of 153mcm/d until 7 September.
  • Annual maintenance at the Troll field ramped up to 125mcm/d of unavailable capacity on 26 August and will also conclude in 7 September.
  • The Kvitebjorn field began annual maintenance last Friday and will last until 19 September. The Visund field began maintenance on Saturday and will last until 7 September, affecting 17mcm/d of capacity.
  • The Karsto processing plant will have maintenance on 1-17 September affecting 12.6mcmc/d.
  • The planned Oseberg works have been shortened by several days and will take place 6-13 September.
  • The Gina Krog import terminal will have reduced capacity of 8mcm/d until 7 September.
  • In the UK, the St Fergus terminal will have curtailed capacity of 26.8mcm/d until 6 September before rising to 30.8mcm/d until 29 September.
  • The Culzean field will operate with reduced capacity until Wednesday midday.
  • In France, the annual maintenance at the Dunkerque LNG will end on 9 September. The unavailable capacity has been lowered to 47mcm/d from 52mcm/d previously.
  • In Germany, the Wilhelmshaven LNG terminal will have no sendout from 29 August until 4 September.
