EU Gas Maintenance: Norwegian Gas Flows Lag 5-Year Average

Norwegian natural gas flows to Europe were nominated today at 286.1mcm/d, still below the five-year average for this time of the year amid a prolonged maintenance period.

  • Norwegian gas flows to Europe moved back into the five-year range since 21 September but continue to lag the average since 24 August. Unavailable capacity from Norwegian facilities is scheduled at around 59mcm/d this weekend. Supplies are expected to further gradually increase in the next weeks.
  • The unplanned outage at the 10mcm/d Kvitebjorn field has been extended by seven days until 16 Oct.
  • The 125mcm/d Troll field has still not fully returned from maintenance. The facility was initially scheduled to fully return in early-Sept. 10mcm/d will be unavailable until 9 Oct, 10mcm/d until 11 Oct, 29mcm/d on 11-12 Oct, 10mcm/d on 12-16 Oct and 6mcm/d on 29-30 Oct.
  • Skarv field supply will be cut by 17.4mcm/d on 5-6 Oct, by 12.4mcm/d on 6-7 Oct, by 9.4mcm/d on 7-8 Oct and by 3.4mcm/d on 8-9 Oct.
  • The maintenance at the Ormen Lange field has been extended by three days until 10 October, affecting 24.5mcm/d. Additional works have been scheduled for 10-11 Oct with 13.4mcm/d of unavailable capacity.
  • The ongoing repairs at the Kollsnes processing plant have been extended by four days until 20 Oct, with supplies reduced by 11mcm/d.
  • In the UK, unavailability at the St. Fergus terminal is as followed during annual maintenance: 30.8mcm/d until 11 Oct, 19.8mcm/d on 11-16 Oct, 10mcm/d on 1ct until 9 Nov, 15.8mcm on 20 Oct until 1 Nov.
  • The Barrow North terminal will have limited availability until 8 Oct.
  • Dragon LNG has half-day works today and the Dutch Gate LNG terminal have sendout cuts today.
  • In France, the Fos Cavaou LNG terminal returned from maintenance on 2 Oct. The facility is currently restarting and sendout is scheduled to resume on 9 Oct. One tanker is currently heading to the terminal for 6 Oct arrival.
