EU Negotiator Returns To Vienna, Iranian MP Talks Up Deal On JCPoA

Enrique Mora, chief EU negotiator on the Iranian nuclear deal (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, JCPoA), tweets: "On my way to Vienna to discuss JCPOA back to full implementation on the basis of the coordinator's text tabled on 20 July...."

  • Earlier today Saeed Azimi at the Tehran Times (an outlet with close ties to the Iranian gov't) reported on comments from an Iranian MP on the state of talks:
    • Javad Karimi Ghoddusi, an Iranian MP says the next round of JCPOA revival talks will be held after Ashura (this Monday), says the EU proposed text is in line with Iran's demands in many ways. "Considering the current status, I think we can see the conclusion of the talks. In the new European proposal, many of [Iran's] demands have been fulfilled, but there are still one or two issues left, which are mainly related to sanctions. One of the points of disagreement between Iran and the U.S. is that U.S. says that in case sanctions are reimposed, and investors in Iran should immediately return to their country. Iran does not accept this, and if sanctions are reimposed, enrichment should continue up to 60%..."
