EU Set To Announce Sanctions On Russia, Putin Not On Sanctions List

  • EU High Rep for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell speaking in Brussels: "his package of sanctions will hurt Russia and it will hurt a lot. We are doing this in strong coordination with our partners in the US, UK, and Canada...We are afraid, we believe this story has not finished. We will raise the level of sanctions substantially according to the Russian behaviour. We keep ammunition in our toolbox in order to continue sanctioning Russian behaviour if needed.'
  • EU says that there was unanimous approval from EU member states for sanctions to be imposed on Russia.
  • Borrell says that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not on the sanctions list.
