EU Storage on Target for Around 54% Full at End March

NATURAL GAS

The net gas withdrawal rate from European storage is steady just below the seasonal normal rate. European storage levels are at the top of the five year range and on track to fall to about 54% full by the end of the winter withdrawal season at the end of March.

  • EU natural gas storage net withdrawal rate was 3,260GWh/d compared to the five year average net withdrawal rate for this time of year of approximately 4,000GWh/d.
  • Total European storage levels were above the five year range at 63.22% on 4 Feb according to GIE AGSI data compared to the average of 41.92%.
  • The countries with the largest gas storage volumes are Germany at 177.64TWh (71.38% full), Italy at 120.29TWh (62.18%), Netherlands at 88.52Wh (63.71%), Austria at 68.88TWh (71.20%), and France at 61.60TWh (46.11%).
