ELECTRICITY: Euronext Acquires Nasdaq’s Nordic Power Futures Business

Euronext announced it has acquired Nasdaq’s Nordic power futures business, subject to regulatory approvals, it said. 

  • Under the agreement, Nasdaq will transfer existing open positions in its Nordic power derivatives to Euronext Clearing, with approval of the members.
  • Trading of power futures will be operated from Euronext Amsterdam and will be cleared through Euronext Clearing.
  • In August 2024, Euronext and Nord Pool announced plans to launch a Nordic and Baltic power futures market, with client testing for the Euronext Nord Pool power futures to start in March 2025.
