FAZ: EU & AstraZeneca Agree To Make Vaccine Contract Public

German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reporting that the EU and pharma giant AstraZeneca have come to an agreement on making their contract regarding advanced orders for COVID-19 vaccines public.

  • The content and wording of the contract has come in for significant speculation following the ongoing bust-up between the two sides on the expected shortfall of vaccine provision in the EU from AZ.
  • Could backfire for either or both sides. Legal experts will be able to judge whether the EU has a legitimate claim to AZ vaccines produced in the UK and that AZ has failed in its obligations, or whether AZ has done the best it could in the circumstances and is legally unable to negatively impact the supply of vaccines to another client (the UK).
