Final Reading of Q3 GDP, September Economic Activity

  • Mexico will publish the final reading for third-quarter GDP, which is expected to have expanded 3.2% year-over-year, according to economists surveyed by Bloomberg, slightly less than the preliminary reading of 3.3%. Current account balance figures will also be published later today. Growth data is due at the top of the hour:
    • Q3 GDP Nominal YoY, prior 6.9%
    • Q3 GDP NSA YoY, est. 3.2%, prior 3.3%
    • Q3 GDP SA QoQ, est. 0.8%, prior 0.9%
    • Sept. Economic Activity IGAE YoY, est. 3.00%, prior 3.70%
    • Sept. Economic Activity IGAE MoM, est. 0.20%, prior 0.39%
    • 1500GMT/1000ET: Q3 Current Account Balance, est. $2.8b, prior $6.25b
  • USDMXN is consolidating and remains towards the lower end of the most recent range. The latest move lower confirms the end of the recent Nov 3 - 10 corrective bounce and the break of support at 17.2833, the Nov 3 low, confirms a resumption of the current bear cycle and opens 16.9988, the Sep 20 low. A break of this level would signal scope for a move towards 16.6262, the Jul 28 low.
