Firmer Start, Local Docket Empty

AUSSIE BONDS

ACGBs sit 6-9bps richer across the major benchmarks in early dealing on Wednesday. Light bull flattening is apparent.

  • Aussie bonds have found support as support from US Tsys spills over into the wider space. Tsys firmed as rate cut expectations for 2024 ticked higher yesterday.
  • RBA dated futures price a terminal rate of 4.47% in May 24. There are ~10bps of cuts by Dec 24.
  • 10 Year AU US Swap spreads are ticking marginally lower and sit at +3bps in early trade this morning.
  • Oil fell ~4.5%, its weakest day since July as weak trade data from China and a firmer USD weighed on Tuesday. WTI now sits at a touch above the $77 handle, its lowest level since 21 July. BBDXY was up ~0.3%.
  • The local docket is empty on Wednesday.
