For Min: Tehran 'Will Not Overlook' Possible Direct Talks w/US

Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian has stated that Iranian gov't could hold direct talks with the US on the nuclear deal. Kian Shafiri at BBC Monitoring tweets:

  • "Iran's FM Amir-Abdollahian says the US has "in various ways" signaled that it wants "some level" of direct talks with Iran in Vienna. He says if Tehran feels that it's reached a point where "it's necessary" to hold direct talks to reach a "good deal", it "will not overlook it"."
  • The prospect of direct talks between Iranian and US officials could prove a significant step towards Iran coming back into compliance with the nuclear agreement and the US re-sigining the 2015 nuclear deal or an altered version.
