France Cuts Power Supply Amid Strike

Strike action at EdF’s nuclear sites in France has reduced the country’s nuclear reactor availability by 1.45GW as of Tuesday morning, EdF remit data show.

  • Workers at EdF sites announced 24-hour strike action from Monday 9Pm. Additional industrial action is planned for 24 hours on 10 Feb.
  • Output was reduced at EdF’s Dampierre 4, Paluel 2 and 4 nuclear reactors.
  • Some hydropower output has also been curtailed.
  • Power demand is expected to peak at 74GW on Tuesday, RTE data show.
