France to Change Off-Peak Hours for Summer/Spring Seasons

POWER

The French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has requested distribution firm Enedis to set off-peak hours in spring/summer to 11:00-17:00 CET and no longer night to better adapt to peak solar production times during the day, it said, cited by PV Magazine.

  • The change is planned to be implemented for 2025, with the winter seasonal off-peak hours remaining unchanged.
  • The modification would impact around 15mn French households – that have applied a regulated sales tariff – and could change the consumption habits of individuals and businesses.
  • Solar production in France was around 8TWh from June to August in 2023, compared to 3.5TWh between January-March, according to RTE.
