France’s Costs to Subsidise Renewables to Rise in 2025

France’s cost for subsidising renewable energy production is expected to by around 50% to €6bn in 2025, amid falling power prices, Commission de Regulation de l’Energie said, cited by Bloomberg.

  • France (mainland) is expected to spend almost €4bn this year amid the commissioning of new offshore wind farms, while adding bio-methane production facilities.
  • Half of the subsidies will go towards solar power generation in 2024 and 2025.
  • Onshore wind production is estimated to receive €234mn in 2024 and 2025.
