French FM: Nuclear Deal Within Reach

Speaking before the French Senate, France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian states that he believes a nuclear deal can be reached very soon with Irean.

• Le Drian: "We are coming to the moment of truth. It is not a matter of weeks, but of days. We have found convergence with the other countries, the agreement is within reach. Either the Iranians trigger a serious crisis, or they accept."
• Earlier today, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani tweeted: "The United States and Europe failed to meet their obligations under the JCPOA. The deal has now become an empty shell for Iran in the economic sphere and the lifting of sanctions. There will be no negotiations beyond the nuclear deal with a non-compliant America and a passive Europe."
• Even with a deal in reach, selling a resumption of the JCPoA, whether by the Iranian regime to hardliners in Tehran or by the Biden administration to the US Congress, is likely to prove a difficult task.
