French Gas Reserves To End Winter Around 40%: GRTgaz

France’s gas stockpiles should be around 40% full at the end of the heating season putting the country in a good position to start filling season ahead of next winter, GRTgaz CEO Thierry Trouve said.

  • French gas consumption fell by 9.3% on the year to 430TWh in 2022, GRTgaz said.
  • Gas output for power generation surged by 54% year on year to a record of 61TWh to offset lower nuclear output.
  • LNG imports more than doubled on the year to 370TWh, while pipeline gas flows fell by 21% to 278TWh as Russia halted piped gas deliveries.
  • France’s gas storage capacity stood at 57.41% as of 8 Feb, AGSI data show.
