Futures Downticked On Friday, Tankan Survey Due

In post-Tokyo trade on Friday, JGB futures were slightly lower, closing -3 compared to settlement levels.

  • US tsy futures have re-opened slightly stronger at 110-27+, +0-02 from NY closing levels on Thursday.
  • Cash US tsys finished mostly in the red in the shortened session on Thursday, ahead of the Easter long weekend.
  • The short end underperformed after hawkish comments from Fed Governor Waller Wednesday aftermarket, and stronger-than-expected data saw rate cut expectations trimmed further.
  • The 2-year yield closed 5bps higher at 4.62% while the 10-year yield was 1bp higher at 4.200%.
  • Later today the US calendar sees S&P Global Manufacturing PMI and ISM Manufacturing data.
  • Today, the local calendar sees the latest Tankan Survey and Jibun Bank PMI Mfg data.
